Extreme Puzzling

Anna has given us all a reason to consider puzzle piecing as an Olympic event. This weekend as our girl was putting together a few puzzles with her Daddy and brother she was leaning across the couch and lost her holding on the coffee table, falling and splitting her chin on the way down. As a result, we took our first family trip to the hospital where Anna had ten stitches put in to close the gap. Who knew puzzles could be so dangerous!? Anna was in hysterics about having to see a doctor and what they might do to her, but she walked out of the E.R. with a smile on her face and princess stickers and a sucker in her hands.

Brett and I laughed about it all later because I'd just recently told him that I was surprised that we hadn't had an emergency room visit yet for our children, also, because we have the most benign rounded edge coffee table we could find! I was just glad that he was home when the accident happened to keep the situation calm and to help with Izzy and Quinn while I held Anna's hand through the stitching.

Oh I am so sorry to hear she hurt herself. I hope we can wait for many years before we have to have a hospital visit. I bet you were so brave Anna.

Oh, WOW!!! When I first saw the photo, I thought it was Anna just being a ham...then a closer look...OWIE!

I was surprised we made it as long as we did without calling Poison Control (finally had to call a few weeks ago).

Poor Anna! We've had an emergency visit. Zack was just over 18 months when he tripped and cut his head open on a rock. He was with his dad, not me! I didn't have to live with the guilt! I was freaking out though when I saw the blood down his face when Kenton brought him inside the house. It was MY idea to take him to the Doctor for stitches. He had three. We found the rock that caused the mess and it was TINY. Who knew! I think I have it around my house somewhere, stuffed in a drawer probably. I don't handle blood on my kids to well. Hope she's feeling better!
